ABOUT MARTIN
I never imagined becoming a writer
I'm Martin Rivera Jr., an Aurora, Illinois native whose journey has taken me from the Midwest to rural Mexico and back again. For most of my life, becoming an author was never part of the plan.
That changed after the loss of my brother, Juan Angel. I began writing as a way to cope with his loss and preserve the memories I never wanted our family to forget. What began as a personal journey eventually became my first book, Juan Angel: The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man.
ABOUT MARTIN
A Life Shaped by Two Worlds
I was born in Aurora, Illinois, but much of my childhood was shaped by life in Mexico. I spent years in the small rural community of Los Nopales, Durango, before later living in Chihuahua City. Those experiences-from the simplicity of rural life to a large city , and eventually back to Aurora-gave me a unique perspective on family, sacrifice, hard work, and the importance of remembering where we come from.
THE UNEXPECTED PATH TO WRITING
Becoming an author was never part of my plan.
After losing my brother, Juan Angel, I began writing as a way to cope with the grief and preserve the memories and stories I never wanted to lose.
What began as something deeply personal
eventually became Juan Angel: The Extraordinary Lif of an Ordinary Man. through that journey, I discovered a new purpose: to preserve the stories of ordinary people whose lives leave extraordinary legacies.
Continuing the Legacy
Juan Angel believed in helping people, often
quietly and without expecting recognition. He
brought people together, supported families during
difficult times, and understood that even small
act of generosity could make a difference.
My hope is that this journey becomes more than a
book. I want to continue my brother's spirit of generosity,
use this platform to help others, and keep alive the
values that made my brother's life extraordinary.
The richest lives aren't measured by what we
own, but by the lives we touch along the way.
